July Changes and Updates

Dear Stream101 Clients,


We are writing to you because you are a registered client of Stream101.  We are pleased to announce some new changes that will be taking place during the month of July.  Many of these changes are because of active clients who suggest new features or changes throughout our website, and we do our best to try and add to those features.

 

Control Panel Improvements


We have released some upgrades to our control panel that have many new features and improvements.  Our latest control panel release is Version 1.4.4.8 and we have tried to include many updates to this release.  We have added the ability to Ping and Traceroute your SHOUTcast server to test it and make sure it is up and running from anywhere in the world.  We’ve added AJAX/Javascript HTML Code Snippets that you can Copy & Paste into your website code to display the Current Song Playing, Listener Amounts, etc.  We are continuing to work to find a better solution for uploading files to Auto-DJ and any suggestions are welcome.  We have added Geo-Locking capabilities to all of our SHOUTcast servers which allow users to block certain areas of the world from listening to your radio station.  This is perfect for stations who are working to target only key parts of the world for listeners.  We are working to improve our Control Panel in many ways, and want to know your ideas as well.  Feel free to send a support ticket in with your ideas and we will happily look into it.  You can track the progress of upgrades and ideas at http://tracker.stream101.com .

Support Options


In the past we have tried many ways of support options and have chose to leave some behind, while bringing other support options to the table.  We are once again going to be trying to bring back User Self-Help forums to Stream101.  We are currently working on implementing it to the billing area, thus allowing clients to be automatically signed in and registered for the Forums without having to fill out more information.  This is one way that we can work to lower costs by eliminating the need for having more staff on hand than needed.  In the past, we offered 24 hour tech support via phone, tickets, and live support.  By eliminating the live internet support all together, and by reducing the phone support to 12 hours a day, we were able to cut costs to the users in many ways, and allow us to continue to develop improvements for Stream101 in the time that we are not on the phone or on our live support system.

General Notices


System maintenance will occur Tuesday 30th, 2009 between 10 and 11:50 PM Eastern Standard Time.  At this time, certain areas of our website may not be accessible, but the servers will not be taken down.  The maintenance is just to update key software such as the Billing and SHOUTcast Control Panel’s security software.
