Clients,
This article is intended to both inform and educate you on keeping your information safe on the internet.
Stream101 takes privacy and security extremely seriously. It is because of our concern that we are now implementing some additional security measures to keep your personal information safe.s
Personal PIN Number
This is a 4-8 Digit Number that you should set. This number can be anything you choose and will be used to make billing/account changes. All new clients will be required to create one. All existing clients are suggested to create and memorize a PIN number. The direct link to access your PIN number can be found here: https://stream101.com/clients/clientarea.php?action=details
Secured Backend
Stream101 staff is not allowed to access credit card information. The only exception is they can see your expiration date and last four digits for identity confirmation. Stored credit cards are stored on a secure server not accessible by anyone on the outside world. The cards are stored with an encryption key that is randomly generated and changed hourly.
All client information is stored in a similar manner, utilizing a secondary server with encryption to protect your personal contact information.
Information Withholding
Stream101 is required by law to withhold any personal information from anyone who you have not specifically told us to allow information to. We are not allowed to release any information that is not public knowledge. An example may be the WHOIS information that is available to the public.
NEW PRACTICES
Effective immediately, we will be unable to give out passwords over any means of communication. We will be able to reset your password, however our system has now been locked down to prevent even technical staff from seeing your passwords.
Clients who have lost a password may reset it on their own, or submit a ticket to the Sales/Billing Department. Steps will be taken to verify your identity prior to a password reset. NO RESETS WILL BE AVAILABLE VIA TELEPHONE. Everything must be documented for legal purposes, therefore we are requiring all password resets to be done.
How Can I Stay Safe?
Getting into a habit of changing your passwords regularly, not sharing passwords, and not reusing passwords is your safest bet. Do not use the same password for multiple websites. For example, using a password for online banking and a sketchy website may give your password to someone you cannot trust.
We hope these tips and information provided can be used to keep you and yours safe online.
Have a great day!
